Bike Man Rides to Mexico!
I was informed recently that a couple RPTV episodes including the Bike Man series, have been requested to be screened in a location in Merida, Yucatan,
Mexico. I have very little information about this screening in Mexico. The only other information I've been given is that the people screening the films are in hopes that we'll be visiting them to talk about the films at the screening. However, none of the staff that worked on the RPTV episodes, including myself, will be able to travel overseas to this screening. I still think its pretty amazing that they are interested in the videos I have worked on. Never thought I'd have films I've worked on go international!
UPDATE!:
Screening Location
Event: InteractivA’07
Museum of Contemporary Art (MACAY), Merida, Yucatan,
Mexico

RPTV to be aired on CBC
CBC has requesting RPTV episodes to be aired on their Saturday Morning TV program. I was very excited to hear the news.
CBC has already played one of our RPTV episodes on their radio show. A short documentary that follows the Ontario Coalition Against Poverty (OCAP) into the "Cabbagetown Restaurant and Bar", as they are making a movement to prevent the shut-down of the restaurant by the Cabbagetown community. OCAP has recently taken notice of our small RPTV documentary of their moment and have placed it on their site:

GRAND THEFT AUTO: REGENT PARK -
STIRS INTERNATIONAL DISCUSSION
Grand Theft Auto: Regent Park is an RPTV documentary short produced by youths from Regent Park during the summer of 2006.
As one of the editors for this episode of RPTV, I didn't really expect this video to stir up as much controversy as it has online. Ever since its upload to YouTube, it has received 50,000 views and growing. The video has also beeb sited on many game forums for criticism due to its controversial topic. This episode of RPTV, can now be seen on the front page of Grand Theft Auto fan webistes, many other subsidiary GTA fan sites and also quite a bunch of other popular game sites. I've encounted at least 15 sites that have talked about our documentary:
GTA4.TV , GTA - Sans Andreas.com ,
GTA - Guide.com ,
Kotaku.com ,
Grand Theft Auto News.newslib.com ,
Digital Youth Research ,
Wii Gamer.com , Board.ie ,

Toronto Star Publicizes RPTV
"Hi Tyrone, My name is Jen Gerson and I'm a reporter with the Toronoto Star. I'm writing a story about Regent Park TV and was hoping to speak with someone there on the production crew. I'm on a very tight deadline, so if you or someone from the crew could get back to me ASAP, I'd be endlessly appreciative. Thanks in advance for your time, Jen Gerson Arts & Life Reporter Toronto Star."
Following that email, Jen from Toronto Satar dropped by to Regent Park Focus and interviewed a few of the contributors to RPTV. Since then, we got published in the Toronto Star not to mention being featured in one of the columns on the front cover of the Toronto Star. It was of great honor, to see that all the hard work from everyone at RPTV has paid off. I've personally spent many overworked hours getting those videos completed, screened, uploaded and updated. So to see how all this hard work is finally getting seen by tens of thousands, is one of the most amazing feelings.

Jermaine Osbourne Murdered
Usually there's been very good news to talk about; Today however we have sad news. Back in grade school i used to play basketball with a group of guys, just about every recess. It wasn't your ordinary basketball game however. We would use tree-guards as basketball nets in the school’s yards, playing on rough dirt. Was kind of our own sport we created back then and was at times quite rough but always fun. Jermaine was one of the best players in this Tree-Net Basketball game we all used to play.
We all continued to play this unusual form of basketball till about 1996 when most of the key innovators to the game graduated on to Grade 7; which would be at another school since our school only went up to Grade 6. Anyhow, since I graduated and moved on to another school, i had not spoken with Jermaine. It was only recently that I was able to talk to Dane Osbourne, Jermaine's brother who also used to play the tree-net basketball game with us. It had been about 10 years since I had seen him last. So the first thing we started talking about was of coarse the good old tree-net basketball games and how good he and his brother Jermaine were, at the game. Sadly only days later I found out from neighbors, friends, family and the news that Jermaine Osbourne had been shot 7 times and later on passed away. He leaves a child behind, which made it even harder for me to swallow the news.
He will forever be missed and for me, it will be for being one of the toughest opponents in our tree-net basketball games. A sport of which we spent a childhood to build.
RIP Jermaine Osbourne 1986 - 2006
